The Marr Cottage is a private water-front home situated along a salt-marsh outside Charleston on Sullivan’s island. It was specially designed as a family’s primary residence, perfect for living and entertaining in the Carolina, Low-Country manner. Though not the largest house, and while tucked away on a side street with frontage along the bank of a creek, the general agreement among the locals is that it is the most beautiful house on the island. It is the one that captures the essence of what Sullivan’s Island has always been and should continue to be. The house is now frequently copied by other architects in their designs.
